My Biggest Fear…

My biggest fear is spiders…don’t ask me why. I HATE them. They freak me out and they never fail to make me jump at the site of them. I’ve always been deathly afraid of them and I don’t really have a traumatic story as cause for my fear. I’ve just always been terrified of them…even the ones that pose no harm to humans.
Of course it’s my luck that my new house is CRAWLING in them! Well…I should technically say “was” because Terminix has been out three or four times in an attempt to get rid of them. Hopefully there won’t be a problem with them anymore because I may not be able to retain my sanity if there continues to be a problem. My new house sat vacant for almost a year and there is a field behind it. So of course all kinds of creepy crawlies were able to take over undisturbed. It’s a really nice house and only two years old so it’s not like it’s run down or drafty, etc. It’s just that it was the perfect place for these bugs, insects and arachnids to make their home.
The first time I viewed the house my boyfriend calls me into one of the bathrooms to “see something.” He’s quite evil. In the toilet was possibly the largest spider I’ve ever seen outside of an aquarium. And yes…it was alive. Come to find out it’s called a Sun Spider and it’s quite beneficial because it eats tons of bugs. But do I care? NO. And of course the garage and exterior were housing loads of Black Widows. Luckily after the first treatment by Terminix most of the spiders and other various bugs were killed. I had the wonderful job of cleaning all their dead, shriveled bodies up. Yay for me. There were still a few spiders roaming around but luckily they’re pretty much gone now.
It doesn’t stop at spiders and your usual bugs and insects. The other day we were working on some landscaping and I go to throw something away and I almost step on a snake in the driveway! I jumped back because I wasn’t sure what kind it was. It was small and last thing I needed as to be bitten by a baby rattlesnake. But I checked the tail and it wasn’t a rattler so all was safe. I called my boyfriend over and we watched it cruise around for a while. Funny thing is I’m not afraid of snakes at all…I just don’t like the way that they feel so I don’t like touching them. I’ve held a few but it’s just not my thing. I’m just cautious around them in the wild because I’m not familiar with which are poisonous and which are not. I used to work at a gun range in the canyon and we had tons of rattlesnakes around which has caused me to be extremely cautious around them.
So going back to the spider nonsense…it just makes me laugh that I’m moving into this amazing new home and it contains my BIGGEST fear! Home is not a place you want to feel fearful…it’s a place that you want to relax in and enjoy. Luckily it’s something that can be controlled by pest control so I’m sure that all will be fine on the homefront from here on out. I will always hate spiders and be deathly afraid of them but I guess there are worse things to be scared of.

Comments for My Biggest Fear…
You Know…I Think If A Spider Is Harmless, Then It’s Not A Threat To Me, I’d Welcome Their Presence! Shame On You! Calling TERMINIX!!! If It’s A Poisonous Species of Spider Then By All Means Get The Pros Over There! But Yeah, A Spider Is A Predatory Insect Has To Eat Like The Rest of Us Do! Maybe If You Held A Tarantula It Would Rid Your Fear of Spiders! Because I Know What Your Fear Is…Getting Bitten, That’s The Number One Problem And Being Arachniphobic! But Find A Less Aggressive Spider To Hold That Way Your Chances of It Biting You Will Be Slim To None, And Just Let It Crawl On Your Hands, Arms…etc! But Don’t Molest It As They Would Say, HAHA! So Let Me Tell You My Mother Used To Fear Snakes Like You Fear Spiders, But She Hates Spiders Like You! And Yeah, One Day I Bought A Ball Python! Maybe 2 1/2 to 3 Feet In Length And One Day The Damn Thing Got Loose And Was Crawling Towards The Chimney And She Saw It And She Screamed Like A Lil Girl So…To Cut The Story Short I Picked It Up And Said “Here Hold It” “It Doesn’t Bite” So She Held It And Was Fascinated By It…So Ever Since Then She Doesn’t Fear Snakes Wild Or Otherwise! Yeah! And Im A Proud Owner of 5 Snakes Going On 6 Today! I Love The Lil Bastards Always Have, Always Will!
My little sister hates them too. Dammit, I can’t believe the most beautiful girl(woman) in the world has a bf. I’ll have to settle for second best.
While Driving down Sunset Blvd. Erin saw a spider descend from the ceiling of his jeep and totally forgot he was manning a motor vehicle. He barely pulled over and I had to take over the wheel. He was paralyzed.
Guess What Jelena?? In Spain when we use to find a spider at the house, we have to think a couple of times about killing them or not…In Spain there is and old legend that if we find a spider at house will provide you a lot of money in the future….so the next time think about stepping it…LOL
I forgot it…Do you like Spiderman movie??
Kisses a lot sexy!
My biggest fear is spiders too,
in my country exist a spider call..Chilean recluse ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chilean_recluse )
.. my God!!!!
This spider is considered by many to be the most dangerous of the recluse spiders, and its bite is known to frequently result in severe systemic reactions, including death.
im afraid of spider
I was in college in Phoenix, watching TV with my landlord’s son, John. I was wearing jeans and boots at the time. He said, “There is a huge spider crawling up your leg.” I thought he was making a joke, so I said, “Kill it, then.” He shakes his head and nearly climbs over his chair to back away. Then the damn thing came over my knee. It was the biggest, reddest, hairiest tarantula I had ever seen. About the size of my hand! I leaped up from my armchair and I stomped and stomped and stomped and stomped and stomped and stomped and just mashed that thing into the carpet. Then I sat down. About 30 seconds later, the chills swept over me and I broke out into a cold sweat. The size of that thing, though! I could not believe I could not feel that thing coming up my leg! What if that thing had bit me?
My biology teacher kept a 24 foot python in the classroom. He named her Fire (though I think he told us her real name was Priscilla). He used to take her out and put her on the front desks, which were tables, and let her slither around. He would tack the skins she shed to the classroom walls and even use her pooh as chalk for the chalkboard. He used to feed her in class plump white mice and rats. When he did that, Fire, who normally seemed really slow and blind, would, with lightning speed, strike out at the rat by wrapping all 24 feet of her around maybe 8 inches of rat, crushing and slowly digesting it. You could hear the rat’s cries, the bones breaking, and it would take Fire the rest of the class time to eat the rat. Mr Westley used to bring fire out around his neck, but I have never wanted the python, or any python around my neck. I used to play with green and white garter snakes, but I deeply distrust all snakes otherwise.
Bonjour Jelena,
When I was a child, I was frightened of spiders, and my mother told me ” C’est pas la petite bête qui va manger la grosse.” Which can be approximately translate (well I’m not fluent in english so….) by “the small animal won’t eat the big one” Can you believe it?lol And of course, she was right.
So I wish you to be happy in your new house….with or without spiders.
